Check out this article in today's Philly Inquirer. Unfortunately, the
graph is not reproduced, but hockey was about number 6 in emergency room
visits in 1998. (That did not include visits to doctor's offices.) There
were over 30,000 visits recorded for children that year. Not all were from
checking from behind. The overuse issue, training too much, is up there
for damage to young bodies. Even though hockey is not cited in the
article, we see these injuries in competitive players all the time.

Another idea for shooting practice is to buy a scrap piece of linoleom.
They sell large scrap pieces at home depot. I got mine for $17.00.
It's 8'x10'. This way, the blade of the stick has a lot less friction when
it slides. It's great for wrist shots.

However, be careful on slapshots or you can rip the linoleum. :)

The scrap piece rolls up and can easily be stored.

I've found that it is cheaper to buy an kit already assembled rather
than try to put a kit together.

This kit is specifically designed for hockey & for a Trainer's use.
Although it will end up costing you a $100, that's less than $10 per person.

	Just a suggestion.

I'm going to be moving to Delaware in July. I was wondering if anybody
knew of any teams that I could play on in the Wilmington area.
