The agreement between the CHA and USA Hockey is that you must wear what
your own governing body's insurance requires you to wear. Some referees
and tournament organizers are unfamiliar with this agreement, so it helps
to check ahead of time with the organizers and/or to carry a copy of the
agreement with you. You can probably get one from your Risk Management
co-ordinator or from other USA Hockey officials.

Do American senior women's teams still have to wear mouth guards? I
thought their rule had been changed to apply only to minor teams.

Here's another question, do members of a US based team competing at Brampton have to be members of USA Hockey?

We're a rag tag team that didn't play together in the regular USA Hockey season here. Most of us are members of USA Hockey anyway, but I think there are a few who may not be...

Yes, the announcers mentioned that it's "traditional" for politicians to be
booed at sports events. Hopefully the 'Murricans know that, we don't want to
give them any extra motivation for next year :)

I want to second Angela's kudos to Bruce Tennant and Karen Arbour for
their outstanding Icebreakers Tournament this past weekend. I returned
to Toronto this year because last year's tournament was so much fun, and
this year thanks to Bruce and Karen getting tickets for tournament
attendees I had the honor and privilege of seeing first hand the best
women hockey players in the world play in Mississagua. (I was even
fortunate enough to go to the final game, and although the final score
was not what I had hoped it to be I still had the greatest hockey
weekend of my life). My only question is, what are Bruce and Karen
going to do for an encore next year?

Our current provincial premier (like your state governor, more or less).
He is part of the Conservative (right-wing) party.

>Why did he get booood?

Because, although his party was recently re-elected, the people who don't
like him or his party's policies (including many people worried about
health care, education, and the poor) *really* don't like him/them.

And saying that it's "traditional" to boo politicians is diplomatic but
simplistic, because of the huge cheers for Hazel McCallion, the mayor of
Mississauga (former player and longtime female-hockey icon). The people
presenting the gold medals, by the way, were Hilary Weston, the
Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario (that is a ceremonial office; its appointed
holder is the representative of the Queen), and her husband Galen Weston, a
leader of industry.

Yes you could hear it on TSN. Romanuk said something along the lines of
"And that chorus is of course reserved for the Premier of Ontario - it seems
to happen at every function he goes to - and is not directed towards Team
USA."

I never realised that could have been the reason she looked so surly - I
just thought she was pissed at losing! I would hope someone indicated to
the US team what the booing was about. It's a shame they might think the
crowd was referring to them!

He is not a particularly popular Canadian politician.

Ok, having reletivly not played very offten or very long, i am VERY in experianced so the emabarassing moments are always happening.

My favorite, once while practicing with my highschool team in the pre-season was waiting on buy the boards listening to instructions for drills. Harmless enough. My attention span is very small so i started making snow piles with my skate blade... The rink is probabbly the worst one in a 20 mile radius, there is about a 1-2 inch gap around the ice between the ice its self and the boards... And i managed to get my skate stuck in it.
Luckily i had a friend with me who QUICKLY helped me get unstuck.

OH my other favorite was when.... Ok I'm rather slow, so i end up last in most team drills. My best friend is a bit faster, but thats because she's been skating more than i have. It was the last drill of the day and i was bored so when we crossed the blue line i said "race ya" and started for the goal line. At the goal line she nearly fell on me, tripped me with her stick... (I WON) i slamed into the boards top speed. I'd managed to swing around so that my knees hit first... I fell on back laughing hystaricly. The guys on the team just looked at each other. One of them bent over me and asked it i was ok... still laughing i got up and skated away... =)

LAST ONE... promise... this isn't mine really but it was pretty funny. Picture day at the rink. My guys are practicing, and Mott's have just gotten off the ice. *g* One of their captians was not a fortunate boy. Everyone else quickly got dressed while he was in the shower. No towel, no equiptment, nothing but 1 shoe was left in the locker room. I was sitting in the bleachers with my friend, near the bottom. the locker rooms are behind the bleachers so you can't see people if they sit on the bottom row. My captain being a good boy took the poor guys towel and put it on the bleachers across from me. Poor guy had to run from the locker room to the bleachers to get his towel... *shiver*

I'm cold myself now. =)
