I got a flyer from California Hockey Productions with information about
some tournaments that they are putting together. They are the people
that put on the Las Vegas tournament (I had a great time at that
tournament this year). They are having a tournament in San Diego over
Labor Day Weekend (Aug. 29 - Sep. 1). Their flyer said that there has
been some interest in having a women's division. If enough teams are
interested, they will put one in.
How would you like to spend the morning playing hockey and the afternoon
enjoying one of San Diego's many beaches?
If you are interested, contact California Hockey Productions before
June 15, at (310) 478-2826.
The tournament hotel is the Carmel Highland Doubletree with games to be
played at Iceoplex-Escondido. This resort has a golf course, tennis
courts, a health and fitnes center, 2 swimming pools and 2 whirlpool
spas.

About the Jill Straps joke. It is a silly joke. In English, a very
popular children's rhyme is "Jack and Jill" you may have something like
it in Germany:
Jack and Jill
went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water, etc etc.
The joke is that "jock strap" kind of sounds like "jack strap", so a
girl's one would be called a "jill strap". It's not a very good joke.

Team California (midget level) has just beaten Team Alaska (last years
national champs) in over time to earn the right to go to nationals. The
championship game was well played by both teams with some awesome goaltending
by Chanda Gunn on Team Cal. These regional games included some of the best
hockey I have seen all season. Go Team California!

Subject: More California Hockey Tournaments

There is going to be a women's hockey tournament in San Jose in July. I
received a flyer today about it (it was passed out in our locker room -
the organizers sent it to Disney Ice, the rink that runs the league I am
playing in). We might be putting a team together to go since there
seemed to be quite a bit of interest today.
It is the NCWHL Invitational Women's Hockey Tournament and will be held
July 11, 12, and 13 at the Ice Centre in San Jose, California. There
will be three divisions offered: Novice, Intermediate and Open. A
maximum of four teams may be entered in each division. Three games are
guaranteed in a round-robin format, with a championship or consolation
round.
Cost for the tournament will be $800 per team. A deposit of $100 is
required to secore a slot and is due no later than April 30. The
balance will be due no later than May 31.
If you are interested, email me at email@hidden and I will pass
on the phone numbers and addresses of the points of contacts (I don't
have anything to do with this league, being from Southern California,
but I thought that there might be other teams out there that would be
interested in another women's tournament).
I do know that the women who play in this league are very nice and lots
of fun.
