Cleopatra,
Are you near Kansas City? If you are, I'm sorry to say there are no
women's teams here, but The Rinks in Shawnee Mission runs a Men's "C"
league (also "A" and "B" leagues) and there is at least one woman on
every team. I play there and find that the rink management is very
supportive. They also have hockey development classes for all levels,
which I would highly recommend. Most of the participants are kids, but
I took one and enjoyed it. They have an outdoor roller hockey rink and
in the summer they run a women's roller hockey league. Their little pro
shop has started to get in women's equipment and is the only place in KC
where you can get a pelvic protector without ordering and waiting
forever. The interest amongst women is really growing and I think in
another year they may have enough women to begin sponsoring a women's
ice hockey team. For more info, call their hockey director, Pat McLin,
at (913) 441-3033, ext. 15. If you have any more questions, just email
me direct.

There are plans to broadcast the ECAC Championship game on tape delay.
Channel 50 in Derry New Hampshire will do the broadcast. Last year they
aired the game at 7:00 p.m.

The Nor Cal Rep Blue Diamonds, a girls' youth hockey team based in Oakland,
California, are holding a raffle to fund their upcoming trip to the Brampton
Canadettes hockey tournament in Brampton, Ontario.
The Grand Prize, donated by RinkSport, is a free entry in the RinkSport
women's ice hockey camp, held in San Jose on July 5 and 6, 1997.
We also have 2 pair of women's shoulder pads (donated by Eastridge Ice
Arena) and 4 copies of "On the Edge, Women Making Hockey History", the
book about women's hockey by Megan Williams and Elizabeth Etue.
Raffle tickets are $3 each, or 4 for $10. Our players have been pestering
the NCWHL teams in their locker rooms of late, and the members of the NCWHL
have been very generous. But if there are any people out there who have not
yet been pestered, and feel left out, please send me e-mail at the address
below, or call me.
You can also visit our web page for even more details:

Thanks to the kind folks at Plaidworks for approving this cyber-beg.
