Hey Dorene--
I also sent for a subscription and got a letter saying they didn't know
when the next issue was coming out and that the people who sent in payments
would receive checks in a separate letter (I didn't send in my payment
right away so I don't know if they've sent checks yet). But I didn't save
the letter, and can't find an address in the magazine either! So I hope a
check (well, preferrably the next issue!) arrives soon!

I recently got a card in the mail for a free copy of the premier issue and a
pre subscription rate of a buck an issue which they said they'd bill later.
Actually, it wasn't just a card... it was a self-mailer brochure which
opened up and had a bunch of pictures of different female athletes mountain
climbing, playing basketball, skiing, biking, boxing, etc etc. It was a big
advertisement plugging the magazine. I already sent in the reply card and
got rid of the rest of it though, I'm afraid that's all the info I have...
I don't know how they got my name for the special offer... The only sports
mag I get right now is Womens Hockey... Maybe they know something.
I did put in an inquiry to Publishers Clearing House, (gotta win that 10 mil)
when ordering another magazine asking if they had Womens Sports
Illustrated... I just scribbled it on the reply form but to my surprise they
replied with a type written letter to me personally, saying that they didn't
carry that publication at this time and I should direct any inquiries to
Sports Illustrated's publishers.
I mean, I still didn't get any answers but I thought it was pretty nice of
them to write me back... And who knows, they may have passed on my inquiry
to Sports Illustrated, (which they do carry) which may explain why I got the
card for the free premier issue in the first place.
Well, at any rate it's not out yet, but it will be soon. I'll post to the
list when I get my 1st issue.

I went to the local "has everything" magazine store. They didn't have
Women's SI so they went and called SI's head office while I stood there!
They were told that the 1st issue was test marketed only (didn't make it
into Canada apparently) and would start coming out in a quarterly form
some time in 1998.
Hope this helps...

Anyone in the D.C./MD/Virginia area know of any place where I can buy goalie
equipment at a reasonable price (is that redundant)? Better yet, anyone know
where I can buy used goalie equipment?
Thanks!

Hi everyone!
Bree just got back, actually on 7/21, from Centre Ice Female Hocky School,
BC. The web address is: http://www.centre-ice.com/
She was in the Elite camp. My husbands first reaction was that it was not a
goalie camp. After the second day, he called and was very impressed with
the camp. The instructors were really great with the girls. Bree had to
work really hard to keep up with them. The day started at 8:00 am and ended
at 10:00 pm. They not only covered hockey, but mental training (very
positive), nutrition and team work.
Rick, who has played himself for over 20 yrs, said that it is the best he
has been to. They did an overall training/conditioning program. The age for
the elite was 11 (Bree and one 12 yr old - defense) the rest were 14 to 19.
They are having camps at different locations, the next couple of weeks. I
do not know if they are full or not. We highly recommend that you check out
the website.

Thanks,
Judi Stevens

I just called the box office at Lake Placid and they didn't know anything
about the women's hockey. The box office person said she figured you would
just pay at the door. Anyone know any more about this?
